This is my first try at writing a blog. As the title says it is going to be a place where I will keep who ever is interested, informed about my travels in the next 6 months or so.
The tickets are bought and on the 25th of May our adventure is beginning. The plan is to get to Islamabad and get the latest news on the development with the landslide and the huge lake that has formed behind it. The lake is likely to start overflowing in the next 5 days or so, which can have catastrophic consequences for all down stream. Our first goal was going to be Karimabad in the Hunza vally but as it just down stream of the landslide we may have to change our plans. A second option is to go to Chitral in the north-west of pakistan. Less landslides but possibly more taliban, although they should be further to the south.
Till now all the travel has been from behind the computer screen. I dont want to know how many hours I have spent on researching everything from accomodation, transport, maps, flying routs,local contacts and the purchase of oxygen, cameras, camping gear and clothing for extreme cold and airline tickets. It is all coming tougether now and I cant wait to get going. Watch this space. Big things are about to happen.
